The CMN regional was AWESOME!! My friend and I were so happy to learn so much from Eve Kodiak and
Ellen Allard. What new ideas and skills to explore!!! The preschool setting in Canton was great and the
company even better. I connected with LOTS of old music friends!

New England
CMN New England is Lending a Hand!

CMN has joined in as a sponsor for an amazing family music event on Sunday, May 12, to help raise funds for the One Fund for Boston. If you're in the greater Boston area and have young children, I encourage you to attend.

You can also help out by passing the word to schools/preschools and families in the Boston area, and by volunteering, either before or during the festival.  Please let me know if you're interested. It would be great to have a group of us from CMN to help out!

The event is from 12-5 pm at the Exchange Conference Center, 212 Northern Ave, Boston (at old Fish Pier).  It's free and open to the public, and adults and children of all ages are welcome.  Donations are encouraged. Many of the performers are nationally-known family bands - great for dancing and having fun!  Two of the bands - the Stacey Peasley Band and Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys, are led by CMN members.

It's also great cause for our city. If you would like to offer further help, let me know!

Thanks!

Liz Buchanan

Time: 1:30p-3:00pm
Place: Our Lady of Angels Church (Upper Floor)
1335 Cortez Ave
Burlingame (between H 101 and 280))

We will gather on May 19 to host a very special workshop presenter, Eve Kodiak.  Eve presented at last year's Conference in Zion to rave reviews!  We're fortunate that she'll be in the Bay Area on 5/18 for another gig and is open to doing another workshop just for us!.  We will have light snacks and spend some time generating enthusiasm and participation for the conference in October.

More details about Eve Kodiak and her workshop:

Eve Kodiak received music degrees from Harvard University and the New England Conservatory of Music.  She uses her understanding of kinesiology which she gained as a licensed Brain Gym therapist, along with music to enhance learning. She developed a book and CD set "Rappin on the Reflexes" and "Feelin' Free".

In this workshop Eve will:
                1.  Explore basic principles about how music and movement affect the brain/body system.
                2.  Describe practical strategies for using this information in our classrooms and our lives.

Topics include: Primitive Reflex Integration, Classroom management techniques through movement  and music, "reading" children's movement, adderssing special needs.

Participants will come away with ideas and songs and games and handouts.
