2008 Annual National Conference

Would you like to lounge on the patio and listen to the waves? Or dig your toes into the sandy beach? Or sit by the fire and sing the old songs that feel so good? Mark your calendars now for the 2008 Children’s Music Network National Conference! Save the dates on your calendar: September 19–21, 2008, at the Illinois State Beach Conference Center in Zion, Illinois.  CMN’s annual gathering for children’s music offers fun and interesting workshops, master classes, panels, and song swaps for working with all age groups.  The Conference Center is about an hour north of Chicago, with easy access to both O’Hare and Milwaukee airports.

The CMN National Conference is one of the best-kept secrets in the world of folk music, and it’s time to spread the word. This event is for anyone and everyone involved with children and/or music. Tell everyone who writes, records, or performs for children.  Tell your children’s classroom teachers, librarians, recreation leaders, and all the music teachers you know. Tell your friends. Although the program is focused for adults, children of any age are welcome and will have a great time. Come one, come all, for a weekend of celebration and music-making you’ll long remember.

The location on the shore of Lake Michigan is sublime, with access to waves, a natural prairie, hiking trails, and a nearby state park. Indoors, the facility offers a large pool, a fitness room, and lovely views.  We're planning an outdoor barbeque, a bonfire, and all the wonderful features people have come to expect at a CMN conference, such as round robin concerts, the Magic Penny Award presentation (recipient not yet named), a  keynote speaker, fabulous workshops and song swaps, networking time, a silent auction, and late-night jam sessions.
